The Fife Area-Wide Psychology Service is a large (95 wte) service comprising a range of clinical and health specialties, with extensive involvement in training, research and service development. Close links with Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee and St. Andrews Universities’ D. Clin.Psych and MSc courses continue and your professional development, CPD and research initiatives will be well supported.
We are looking for a Clinical Associate Psychologist (CAAP) to join our Child and Adult Learning Disability Psychology Team. We have 0.5 wte fixed term sessions available to help with community learning disability psychology services in the adult East learning disability team (fixed term for 9 months in the first instance) alongside a clinical psychologist and an assistant psychologist.
You will join a dynamic, well-established, supportive Learning Disability Psychology team, which includes 2 CAAPs, Clinical Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists. The wider LD Service consists of posts which are embedded within multidisciplinary inpatient and community teams. Clinical work in this post is conducted in community based clinics across East Fife and there would be some requirements to attend service meetings at Lynebank hospital located in Dunfermline. The full range of clinical presentations/complexity is represented and there are opportunities for group work, teaching and training and partnership work with other agencies.
You will provide specialist psychological assessment and treatments for patients presenting with a range of psychological difficulties. You will also contribute to the development of the service, and to the development of evidence based practice. You should have expertise in delivering effective interventions for a range of mental health problems. It would be an advantage to have some training/experience in psychological aspects of learning disabilities.
You will also play an active part in the Area Psychology Service, seeking opportunities for research, professional development and contributing to that of others. The post will be based at Stratheden Hospital, Cupar, but patient clinics may be provided in other areas of Fife.
