Applications are invited for newly created 0.6 WTE NHS Locum Consultant Microbiologist based at University Hospital Crosshouse, to work alongside the existing team of four (4.1 WTE) presently on a 1:4 on-call rota.  The postholder will contribute to the expansion and delivery of Clinical Microbiology Services.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran provides a comprehensive range of high quality health services and healthcare to a population of around 367,000. The department is a UKAS accredited laboratory in accordance with ISO15189:2012 standards and provides a workload of of approximately 300,000 investigations per year. The Terms and Conditions of Service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004 and the post is offered on a 0.6 WTE 6 programmed activity basis.    

Appropriately experienced applicants will hold Full GMC Registration with a current Licence to Practice, and must be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT or CESR at the date of interview. You must also possess FRCPath or equivalent, and have training and broad experience in Microbiology including Virology and Infection Control. 

This is a fixed term post for 6 months.
