This is an exciting post which has arisen within the Maxillofacial Laboratory based in the Institute of Neurological Sciences, which is situated in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) Campus.  The Consultant Maxillofacial Prosthetist and Technologist (MPT) will manage laboratories situated at QEUH and Glasgow Royal Infirmary. 

The MPT will manage the provision of a highly skilled multi specialist centre Regional Maxillofacial Prosthetic and Technical Service; providing scientific and advisory services to patients for their rehabilitation and restoration within key areas of craniofacial reconstructions, congenital malformations of the face, jaw and head and neck malignancies. 

You will be responsible for managing the provision of a regional emergency on call service 7 days a week 52 weeks a year to all surgical specialties. You will be directly responsible for 6 posts consisting of 3 Principal Maxillofacial Prosthetists and Technologists and 3 Practicing Maxillofacial Prosthetists and Technologists.  All posts provide technical advice / services to clinical and surgical colleagues in addition to 1:1 patient treatment for prosthetic rehabilitation.  The IMT will manage and be directly accountable for the regional Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Technology Service for the West of Scotland and Forth Valley health board.


Professional Qualifications:

BSc or equivalent in Technical Dentistry

University Professional Diploma: Maxillofacial Prosthetics & Technology (2 years)

Vocational training (2 years)

Masters degree Med Sci (2 Years) or equivalent.

Full membership of the institute of Maxillofacial Prosthetists and Technologists

Relevant experience:

Minimum of 8 years practice as a qualified Maxillofacial Prosthetist and Technologist.

Minimum of 10 years full membership / state registration level of the Institute of Maxillofacial Prosthetists and Technologists.
