Essential for this post: You will be a NMC Registrant and have a recognised post graduate academic qualification as a Health Visitor, and have a proven track record of continuous professional development and innovative practice. You will have the ability and willingness to travel throughout the area to delivery service to children and families in their own homes.
In your role as Health Visitor you will provide an accessible, high quality, culturally sensitive and effective Health Visiting Service to the children and families in NHS Fife. Work in partnership with Social Work teams, Education, health services, other partner agencies and voluntary services. Have the ability to work as part of a team, and as an autonomous practitioner, using your clinical judgement and decision making skills on a daily basis, to maintain the safety, health and wellbeing of children and families in Fife. Organise your own diary and be responsible for caseload management to ensure workload is completed in a timely manner. Have a duty of care to respond to, report and escalate Child Protection concerns with minimal delay to safeguard children and families. You will be responsible for record keeping, data collection, updating child health records with your assessment and plan for the child. Attend and/or chair child wellbeing meetings, child protection and children’s hearings to advocate for the child, submitting reports prior to attendance. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Embrace skill mix team working and delegate work accordingly, whilst continuing to have overall responsibility for the caseload.
Health Visiting can be extremely challenging at times, therefore you should be passionate and committed to working in partnership with children and families with complex health and social issues. To support you as a Health Visitor, you are encouraged to attend Child Protection Supervision sessions regularly, and access caseload supervision with your Team Leader. In return, working as a Health Visitor offers you the opportunity to contribute towards making a difference to the health and wellbeing outcomes of children and families in Fife, whilst having access to learning and development opportunities in a supportive work environment.
