Applications are invited from doctors for the position of CDF in Acute Medicine in NHS Ayrshire and Arran who, by August 2021, will have successfully completed Foundation Year 2 training. This post would also be suitable for those candidates who have completed the UK Internal Medicine or Core Medical Training Programme or its equivalent and are looking to apply for Higher Specialist Training.
The aim of this post is to provide development opportunity for the post-holders, while supporting our key service areas in relation to the provision of clinical care by a trained doctor workforce. The post will provide experience in the management of acutely unwell medical patients and development of procedural skills. The posts, although not recognised for training, are structured to allow post-holders the opportunity to further develop their medical career.
This post is likely to appeal to applicants:
• Wishing to re-enter training at IMT1 level. This post will provide valuable opportunities to build your CV to allow competitive advantage at CMT1 application level.
• Wishing to re-enter/enter training at IMT/ST3 level. This post will provide valuable knowledge and experience in the assessment and management of acutely unwell medical patients with the opportunity to be involved in medical HDU. There will be regular opportunities to perform and develop procedural skills. Participation in our departmental quality improvement, audit and research work will also be encouraged, thus further strengthening your CV. The post will provide excellent experience for those wishing to apply to any of the medical specialities.
• Seeking further experience in medical specialties and working towards completing MRCP examinations. The medical team are keen to provide teaching and to support candidates through the PACES/MRCP examinations. Given the broad range of medical specialities available at University Hospital Ayr and University Hospital Crosshouse, there are extensive learning opportunities to facilitate this.

During the tenure of the appointment post-holders will have a minimum of 4 hours per week development time and access to a £1250 study budget (pro rata), to support them with the attainment of their career aims.
A 40% pay banding supplement will be paid to recognise contribution to out of hours working and the core salary will be will be based on a salary range of £ £33,884- £53,280. The posts are not recognised for national training. Applicants must hold Full GMC Registration with a current Licence to Practice by the time of appointment.
