Applications are invited from doctors for the position of CDF within the Emergency Departments of University Hospital Crosshouse and University Hospital Ayr in NHS Ayrshire and Arran who have completed the UK Foundation Programme. 

The CDF posts will afford successful applicants an excellent opportunity to gain experience in Emergency Medicine prior to committing to a future Core or Specialty training programme. 

University Hospital Crosshouse is currently ranked top in the UK and University Hospital Ayr is ranked 5th in the UK for trainee satisfaction in the GMC National Training survey (2019). At present University Hospital Crosshouse is the only ED in Scotland with Good Practice Recognition from NHS Education for Scotland Deanery Quality Review Panel. In recent years many of our fellows have had success in applying for entry into specialty training. 

In combination with the clinical component, each CDF will be assigned (under discussion) to an area of personal and professional developmental interest. You will receive dedicated development time of up to 8 hours per week to undertake these activities. These activities will be supported through clinical supervision and successful candidates will receive up to £1250 pa pro rata to support agreed development activities in their chosen area of interest.
   
The CDFs will work under supervision with local clinical teams to develop skills, and will also provide a proportion of out of hours activity.

The appointment will be whole time for the duration of 12 months commencing 4 August 2021. The posts are comprised of 2x 6 month placements at University Hospital Ayr and University Hospital Crosshouse, respectively.  A 50% pay supplement will be paid to recognise contribution to out of hours working and emergency duty commitments, and will be based on a salary range of £33,884- £53,280. The posts are not recognised for training.   Applicants must hold Full GMC Registration with a current Licence to Practice.
