For applicants applying for band 6 Annex 21, these candidates if successful, will be required to complete their Specialist Portfolio and the schedule of in house training provided within the agreed time scale prior to progression to Band 6 and the salary will be paid at Annex 21 of the A4C Terms and Conditions.
SERL provides a comprehensive identification and typing service for human STEC infections throughout Scotland and utilises a wide range of microbiological and molecular methods, including whole genome sequencing. Practical experience of working within an NHS Microbiology laboratory is essential. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed an IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Microbiology but consideration will be given to applicants who are HCPC registered but lack relevant laboratory experience equivalent to a Specialist Biomedical Scientist and are willing to undertake the IBMS Specialist Diploma. These candidates, if successful, will be required to complete their Specialist Portfolio in post prior to progression to Band 6. During the period of training, Annex 21 will be applied to the post.
