Orthopaedic Supported Discharge Team

Specialist Physiotherapist - Band 6 (Static)

Permanent, Full time available (37.5 hours)

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our dynamic Orthopaedic Supported Discharge Team. This small, multidisciplinary team is based within the Orthopaedic wards at the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh but provides short term rehabilitation to Orthopaedic and Major Trauma patients, promoting flow by facilitating early supported discharge from the acute setting. The team includes: Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing and Health Care Support.

You will be working in the community, delivering rehabilitation in patients own homes, therefore you will be expected to travel between patients homes within Edinburgh.

Candidates must display evidence of clinical experience of work in a variety of core rotations, as well as showing a particular interest in Orthopaedic/Major Trauma Physiotherapy. Ability to prioritise and manage a complex caseload is essential, as is clarity of communication and well-demonstrated organisational skills. Experience of supervision, mentorship and appraisal of other staff members / students is essential. Previous experience of community working is highly desirable.

The Physiotherapy department will support staff development through appraisal processes, supervision and CPD opportunities. There is no on-call commitment to this role.
