Antimicrobial Management Team (AMT) Nurse Specialist
Band 6, 37.5 hours, permanent contract (job share considered)
This post offers an exciting professional development opportunity for a suitably qualified registered nurse to work with the multidisciplinary Antimicrobial Management Team (AMT) to improve antimicrobial stewardship across NHS Lothian. Antimicrobial stewardship includes programs and interventions to promote and monitor judicious use of antimicrobials, to preserve their future effectiveness. The AMT works within the national framework of the Scottish Antimicrobial Prescribing Group (SAPG).
This post will provide opportunity to develop skills in quality improvement and behaviour change approaches, audit and education in antimicrobial prescribing.
The postholder will be based at one of the acute sites, but they should be willing to work at other sites for specific projects when required. Routine activities will include gathering antimicrobial prescribing information and working with small clinical teams to improve antimicrobial prescribing practices and identify opportunities for education.
You will have good organisational and communication skills and be able to work alone and as part of a team. Existing skills in data presentation would be an asset, but can be learned.
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
