This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified pharmacist to join our Medicine Governance, Education & Training team to support delivery of specialist prescribing education and training to medical students at the University of St Andrews and also medical students from Dundee and Edinburgh and foundation year doctors on placement in NHS Fife. You will support their development through the sharing of learning related to therapeutics, medicines optimisation and the principles of safe prescribing. Innovative teaching and learning pedagogies are encouraged.
You are expected to have specialised pharmaceutical knowledge and extensive experience of clinical decision making around prescribing of medicines to support their role in co-ordination, design and delivery of clinical teaching.
You will liaise with the 0.2WTE medical education pharmacist to agree educational needs to improve the safe prescribing of medicines. The role also provides an opportunity to engage with the wider healthcare system with strategic and operational responsibility in the patient safety agenda.
You should have a Master of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent and be a member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). They should possess a postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy. A practice certificate in independent prescribing is desirable. Experience of teaching and a qualification in teaching is desirable.
You will be part of the Medicines Governance and Education & Training team, and will be based at both the University of St Andrews Medical Schoo l (as honorary member of staff) and the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.
