The post of Medical Laboratory Assistant in the department of Pathology is an essential post in the successful running of the department. You will provide laboratory support to both medical and scientific staff. The department provides a comprehensive Histopathology and cytopathology service to Greater Glasgow & Clyde and undertakes a wide range of diagnostic techniques. The main duties of this post will include checking laboratory specimens, entering data In the laboratory specimens, entering data into the system, and assisting Consultant Pathologist and Biomedical Scientists with specimen dissection duties and other general laboratory duties. It is essential you have3 Highers at Grade C or above, which should include either Chemistry or Biology together with Maths, or  a SVQ3 in relevant science subject, or Completion of modern apprenticeship in life sciences, or Completion of equivalent accredited education / learning. Previous experience of working in a similar role would be beneficial. The shift pattern is worked Monday to Friday within the core working hours of 8.00am to 8.00pm the service also covers Saturday mornings and Public Holidays.
