An exciting opportunity for a Band 5 registered nurses to join our enthusiastic surgical nursing team in Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI). Do you want to work in an interesting surgical ward environment where you can gain experience and skills in a variety of general surgical specialties?
Glasgow Royal Infirmary is a tertiary referral centre where you will encounter patients requiring complex pancreatic, colorectal, upper GI, bariatric and sarcoma surgery who can be referred in from surrounding health boards throughout Scotland. You will have the chance to work with an interesting patient population unique to GRI and work with a dedicated nutrition team who manage patients with intestinal failure requiring PN (Parenteral Nutrition) and Enteral Nutrition. This patient population allow surgical wards in Glasgow Royal Infirmary provide the nursing team with diverse development prospects and this is an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and skills within these surgical specialties.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside and be supported by experienced nurses, clinical nurse specialists and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide essential nursing care to this patient population. We also work closely with the Beatson Cancer Charity supporting patients through their journey. You will be caring for patients on the Enhanced Recovery pathway but also those who have had a prolonged stay in the critical care environment.
We have five wards, two 30 bed wards (ward 63 and 64) and a 12 bed Elective Surgical Ward and 65 (30 beds) and 66 (31 beds) which are surgical receiving wards.
The speciality of the unit creates an environment where you can feel proud to provide a high standard of care to the patients and this role is perfect for nurses with an interest in the surgical specialities.
Previous experience is advantageous and an interest in Surgical Nursing
Shift pattern is rotational and will consist of a variable shift pattern working a mixture of Early/Late/12 hour shifts.
