An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 3, Health Care Support Worker to join the nursing team within the General Surgery Unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
It is a busy surgical unit which requires an individual who thrives in a fast paced environment.
We have five Surgical wards, two 30 bed wards (ward 63 and 64) and a 12 bed Elective surgery ward and 65 (30 beds) and 66 (31 beds) which are surgical receiving wards.
You will play an important part in the patients’ journey, working within the unit assisting registered nurses and the clinical team in the care of patients undergoing elective surgical procedures.
You must have a commitment to the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate patient centred care. You must also demonstrate excellent communication skills.
You should be able to work autonomously as well as within a team and be committed to continuous professional development.
To meet the challenges of this post you must hold SVQ level 2 or be willing to complete within first year of employment and have relevant experience in a caring environment.

You will be required to achieve the mandatory induction standards for Health Care Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
Shift pattern is rotational and will consist of a variable shift pattern working a mixture of Early/Late/12 hour shifts.
Hours of work are 37.5 & 34.5 hours per week.
