PRINCIPAL PHARMACIST

LOTHIAN MEDICINES INFORMATION SERVICE

Band 8a

1.0 wte – 37.5 hours per week

£ 49,480 to £53,414

The NHS Lothian Medicines Information Service is looking for a forward thinking, and suitably qualified and experienced, pharmacy practitioner to support the Lead Pharmacist for Medicines Information in the management, provision and development of the highly complex NHS Lothian Medicines Information Service, ensuring that the service remains fit for purpose, of high quality as defined by the UKMI audit standards, and meets the needs of its stakeholders, users and patients. This is a great opportunity to provide strategic input into shaping the future of our service.

The role of the service is to provide evidence-based information and expert advice on the use of medicines to answer patient specific enquiries about medicines, and to provide proactive advice and information to ensure the safe and cost-effective use of medicines across NHS Lothian. The centre is located within the pharmacy department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, along with the Yellow Card Centre for Scotland.

You will have proven experience as a highly specialist clinical practitioner, with specialist knowledge in medicines information, a personal commitment to continuing professional development and a dynamic and engaging approach to service improvement. You will also have experience in planning, delivering and assessing teaching, in information skills to pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals.
