NHS Lanarkshire has an exciting opportunity for experienced pharmacists with a background in hospital, primary care or community pharmacy to be part of an expanding multidisciplinary team to deliver a clinical, patient facing role within GP practices and other healthcare settings in NHS Lanarkshire. The function of the prescribing management and clinical pharmacy service is to promote safe, effective and economic use of medicines. The post holder will facilitate patient-focused care that meets the present and anticipated needs of the population of NHS Lanarkshire, in accordance with local and national strategies.   The focus is on active participation in, and contribution to, multi-disciplinary and multi-professional teams in a fully integrated manner.

You will enhance the delivery of clinical pharmacy services to patients by practicing to an advanced level and you will develop a range of innovative pharmacist led clinical services utilising independent prescribing skills.

In addition, you will provide expert advice to the multidisciplinary team within practices/localities to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines across all clinical conditions.

This post would suit pharmacists with experience of hospital, primary care or community pharmacy with considerable clinical experience and who have supervised or trained other staff. You will have a Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and be on the practising register of the General Pharmaceutical Council. You will be expected to have the independent prescribing qualification or be undertaking the course and complete within an agreed timescale, as well as undertaking clinical assessment skills and consultations skills training. You should have a sound clinical knowledge, good IT skills and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should ideally have previous experience of working within primary care. You should have the ability to travel to different locations across Lanarkshire.
