Full time post 37.5 hrs/week (Monday - Friday)

Salary Scale band 7 £39,693 - £46,467 per annum (pay award pending)

Applications are invited from suitably experienced and motivated individuals to fill the role of Team Manager in this busy and well-equipped laboratory.

This is a full-time, permanent post and is based within the Scottish Mycobacteria Reference Laboratory (SMRL), which is integrated and co-located with the NHS Lothian Mycobacteria Laboratory at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary site. 

The laboratory is in the process of rolling-out a Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) reference service and expanded primary molecular diagnostics for mycobacteria. The post holder will be integral to these exciting new developments and training will be provided where required.

We expect the successful candidate to have and utilise strong leadership qualities, organisational and training skills to contribute to the overall management of the laboratory. You will be involved in the day to day running of the lab, training and maintaining the department’s ISO 15189 accreditation.

Applicants must be HCPC registered, be educated to Masters Level (or equivalent) and have practical experience working in an NHS Microbiology laboratory, preferably at Band 6 level or above, with advanced knowledge of risk management, quality, and health and safety.
