Clinical Training Officers (CTO) - SORT

Within NRRD this post has been developed to primarily support specialist training & exercising activities. The CTO will work with the SORT Teams, SMARTEU and multi-agency partners to support the wider departmental training portfolio. Post-holder will require being flexible in their approach to the role. This may include the requirement to undertake unsocial hours working.
The post will provide operational training design and delivery functions to support ongoing specialist training programmes. The post-holder will be accountable for innovation, development of and for the implementation of departmental and multiagency training programmes required to meet statutory and Service requirements for major / specialist incident preparation and response whilst placing clinical quality at the heart of service delivery.
Reporting to and taking direction from NRRD Training and Development Manager, the post holder will work in support of the Special Operations Group [SOG] to ensure appropriate training governance arrangements are in place. A key part of this will be to work in collaboration with the NRRD Management Team and Multi Agency Representatives.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring that an effective specialist operational response is developed, validated and maintained to meet emerging threat and risk, statutory and professional standards through direct training and exercising support to SORT and SMARTEU.
The post will also involve effective collaboration with SORT, NRRD, SMARTEU and other emergency and statutory services, the wider NHS, local authorities, voluntary agencies, HART trainers, other external stakeholders and networks. Where capacity allows the post holder/s may also be required to support delivery of programmes from the wider NRRD course prospectus.
We are looking for flexible individuals with a “can do” approach and who have excellent people, analytical, practical teaching and presentational skills. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills. It is vitally important that you are be able to demonstrate the ability to work to a high standard using your own initiative and be able to provide regular briefings to managers within the Scottish Ambulance Service.
Successful candidates must be a registered HCPC Paramedic who holds a first degree or be currently working towards one (already registered on a programme nearing completion). Candidates will require to demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of Special Operations and Hazardous Area Response and have experience in the paramedic role with desirable training skills and qualifications. Incident, exercise and operational management experience would also be advantageous. You must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft applications and databases. The nature of the role means that you will be required to deal with sensitive information for which Security Clearance (SC) will be required.
