An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Gastroenterology/ Endoscopy Unit in Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert, to train in a dual role as an IBD Specialist Nurse/Advanced Nurse Endoscopist.
We have a dedicated team of Gastroenterology Nurses and Endoscopist Specialist nurses in NHS Forth Valley who are committed to a progressive approach to Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. We are looking for a registered nurse who will undergo training as an IBD nurse / Endoscopist Advanced Nurse Specialist working to bring about dynamic change in the way patients requiring Gastroenterology care are managed.
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, kind, caring and hard-working individual who will be able to demonstrate that they are an effective communicator who works well within a team and who is committed to providing effective healthcare to patients requiring Gastrenterology services/care.
You must be able to demonstrate that you are an able nurse practitioner who has commitment and an understanding of this role which encompasses high levels of decision making and clinical judgement . You must demonstrate your commitment to the delivery of person centred care while ensuring that quality standards and key performance indicators are met. You will be responsible for managing your own patient caseload and for maintaining nurse-led IBD clinics.
The flexibility to work as the situation and service requires is an essential aspect of this post. You will be expected to work a flexible pattern which includes days, evening and weekend shift rotation.
The endoscopy course is provided by Glasgow Caledonian University. As the courses are masters level a first degree or equivalent experience is essential, however if you do not have a degree, a pre course evaluation would require to be undertaken. You will have to have successfully completed essential competencies as set out within the first 12 month period to progress on to your second year.
By the end of your second year you should be deemed competent to work as IBD Nurse Specialist and have successfully passed all course and practical work to successfully scope both upper GI patients.
This post is a Band 7 position under the arrangements of Annex 21. The successful candidate on completion of the necessary academic training and after assessment of competence will progress to being a Gastro / Endoscopist Advanced Nurse Specialist on the Band 7 salary scale.
