NHS Ayrshire and Arran Health board are situated within a 30 minute train or car drive from Central Glasgow. The diagnostics division is embarking on a period of transformational change developing new models of care, in line with our ‘Caring for Ayrshire’ vision.

An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Radiology to join the Diagnostic division as the professional lead to support strategic vision in Radiology. The post holder must be a HCPC registered Radiographer.

The Acute service provides a complex range of Hospital services across the population Ayrshire and Arran together with specialist services for the West of Scotland population. University Hospitals Ayr and Crosshouse both have major trauma units. You will report to the General Manager for Diagnostics and have responsibility for developing and implementing services within key acute service areas ensuring there is a clear focus on the delivery of a range of high quality, safe and efficient patient centred services to meet local and national targets. With strong influencing and leadership qualities you will require to evidence significant experience in operational management in a healthcare or equivalent complex environment.

You will have the ability to inspire confidence and respect to lead and deliver in a politically sensitive and demanding environment. Key to the success of this role will be the ability to contribute to the development of a strong, patient-focused culture which encourages initiative, individual and team responsibility and open communication. You should have the ability to understand and manage budgets.
Project management experience, a good understanding of the key strategic issues facing the NHS in Scotland and within NHS A&A with the ability to translate that understanding into planning/determining the future direction of the service. Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate highly complex information both verbally to multi-professional groups and through preparation of reports for senior management and senior clinical leaders.

You should have a Master's degree or equivalent Management Qualification and substantial management experience within a large complex environment, preferably within NHS. Successful management and delivery of National Wait Time Guarantees.

The shift pattern for this post is Monday – Friday with core hours and a commitment to on call duties.
