Band 4 Healthcare Scientist Assistant (37.5 hours/week)
Applications are invited for a permanent Band 4 Healthcare Scientist Assistant post in the Aberdeen Genetics Laboratory. The Aberdeen laboratory is part of the Scottish Genetics Consortium funded by the National Services Division to provide Genetic and Molecular Pathology diagnostic testing in Scotland.
Experience and qualifications
Applicants should have knowledge of a range of non-routine healthcare science duties acquired through training, experience to Vocational Qualification Level 3, or equivalent level, plus additional theoretical or applied training in specific discipline to diploma equivalent level.
Working experience within a clinical laboratory environment and molecular biology techniques would be an advantage.
The person appointed will be a member of the Aberdeen Genetics diagnostic laboratory technical team and will provide technical support to the service, primarily in the extraction of DNA and RNA from blood and tissue samples, and in the cell culture team.
There will be considerable interaction with technologists and scientists within the department.
