NHS Orkney has an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Radiographer to join our Radiology team.

Working as part of a small team without on-site radiological support, you will need to be confident in assessing the quality of your images; recognising and escalating urgent findings. You will undertake all radiographic duties in general radiography and gain experience in CT as well.

With a new hospital opened in 2019, including a state of the art general Radiography rooms, CT and ultrasound, this is an excellent time to join NHS Orkney as part of our team.

The successful candidate will hold a Diploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc (Hons) Radiography with HCPC registration. You must be able to work as part of a small team. Excellent time management and communication skills are essential in this post. In addition, training in CT will be given on site.

Rise to the challenge and enjoy the opportunity:

  • Remote and rural medicine in a community with multiple small islands, farming and fishing industries, offers unique challenges for the staff working in the hospital.
  • Orkney is a wonderful place to live and work and voted the happiest place to live in the UK. Orkney offers low pollution, low crime, excellent schools, good leisure facilities, unique wildlife and amazing scenery.

There are excellent ferry and air connections to mainland Scotland with Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh under an hour away.

Orcadian culture is diverse, with the world’s highest density of Neolithic archaeological sites, to a thriving contemporary art and music scene, hosting a number of international music festivals and has multiple sporting facilities. If you are looking for a more relaxed pace of life but still enjoy a challenging and varied career in Radiography, Orkney is the place to live and work.
