Secondment/ Fixed term for 12 months to cover substantive post holders secondment

An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Forth Valley’s Health Promotion Service for a part-time (30 hrs per week) Senior Health Promotion Officer. This posts leads on a portfolio of activity which supports the Health Promotion Service Delivery Plan.  This Delivery Plan contributes to national and local strategic priorities, including Scotland’s Public Health Priorities and NHS FV’s Health Improvement Plan.

This Senior Health Promotion Officer post will have lead responsibility for implementing a whole system approach to our tobacco prevention programmes of work as agreed within our service delivery plan. The priority for this post for the next 12 months is to lead on the delivery of our Social Influence Programme and work with partners in our 3 Local Authority Education Services to support plans to address the use of tobacco and wider substances.  The post holder will work at strategic and operational levels to influence and advocate supporting local implementation of the Scottish Government Action Plan: Raising Scotland's tobacco-free generation: our tobacco control action plan 2018.  The post holder will have line management responsibility and manage a budget for the activities they lead on.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of current health improvement policy agenda and how it translates operationally as well as having excellent project and people management skills.  In addition, experience of partnership working, outcome driven programmes and workforce development are essential. Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.

The successful candidates will hold a first degree as well as a post graduate MSc qualification in health promotion or relevant to post, and have significant experience in a health promotion/health improvement field.
