In conjunction with the management team, contribute to and deliver a comprehensive Primary Care, Mental Health and Addictions nursing service as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the prison setting.  You will operate as an extensive part if a multi-disciplinary team, providing the role of practitioner nurse is to undertake assessments, provide and evaluate a range of interventions, to meet prisoner healthcare needs and contribute to the wider continuous development of prison healthcare services.  You will demonstrate knowledge, skills and understanding of health issues and treatment options to provide clinical guidance to all staff on matters relating to health and wellbeing.  You will carry out continuous responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of care and setting the standards of care within a secure environment.  This post is primarily based at HMP Barlinnie but can be moved between the three prison sites if needed to meet the standards of the service.  It is essential that you are currently a Registered Adult Nurse and educated to degree level or equivalent.  You should have post registration experience working within a clinical setting, awareness of professional and clinical accountability, legal issues, role limitations and boundaries and balancing duty of care and public safety issues.  You should be literate in current IT techniques Ability to work on own initiative and the ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.  The shift pattern for this post is Early, Late and weekend working.
