An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Improvement Hub (ihub) within Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS), which is currently developing a range of new approaches to enable improvements in health and social care in Scotland.

The Evidence and Evaluation for Improvement Team (EEvIT) provides high quality evidence review and evaluation support for HIS improvement work. EEvIT supports improvement/redesign teams within the ihub to use evidence to inform the planning and development of their work. In addition, a large proportion of EEvIT time is spent supporting improvement/ redesign teams with the evaluation of their improvement work and the sharing of learning from service improvement in redesign to support spread.

We are looking to appoint three enthusiastic and positive Knowledge and Information Skills Specialist to work with us. Key responsibilities of the post holder include:

- Capturing stories and case studies to evidence the impact of the ihub work.

- Identifying and capturing examples of innovation, such as new service models and good practice to inform the development of our work, building the case for doing things differently.  

- Undertaking horizon scanning of published reviews, evidence or innovative thinking that can inform the development of our work.

-together with health service researches, develop evaluation plans and supporting data collection and analysis

- Sharing and disseminating knowledge across various information channels (web sites, social media).

- Developing web content, working closely with the ihub communication team.

- Working in partnership with colleagues in EEvIT, the communication team and the wider Evidence Directorate within HIS to ensure a quality service.

We are particularly interested in recruiting a creative individuals who can present complex information in a clear and engaging way. Experience of presenting information visually is advantageous but not essential, however, willingness to learn and develop skills in this area is important. Successful candidate’s will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively on their own but also as part of a team. A flexible and creative approach to work is important.

Each of the posts will work closely with the ihub within the following areas:

Mental health portfolio, supporting improvement work in early intervention psychosis (two year fixed term).

- Housing and homelessness in healthcare team, supporting improvement work around integrated alcohol and drug and homelessness services (one year fixed term).

- Access QI (Quality Improvement) programme, supporting NHS Boards to deploy QI to deliver sustainable improvements in waiting times (one year fixed term).
