Due to an expansion in list size and the upcoming relocation overseas of one of our GPs, we have an opportunity for enthusiastic, highly motivated GPs or Advanced Nurse Practitioners to join our friendly, long established, training practice in the north Aberdeen area.
We are looking for 9 - 10 sessions in total to be covered on a partnership, salaried GP or ANP basis and would be happy to consider a job share. We can be flexible on start date and working schedule for the right candidates.
Woodside Medical Group is a 9 partner GMS Practice with just over 12,000 patients. We use Vision and Docman.
We are a well-balanced and supportive team, located in a purpose-built NHS building. We have an excellent nursing team involved in all aspects of chronic disease management, and support from a wide range of practice attached professionals including experienced pharmacists, Link Practitioners and Psychological Therapists as well as access to the City Visits ANP Visiting Service.
Duty cover is provided each day by a team of 2-3 GPs doing a mixture of telephone triage, appointments and home visits.
We are very flexible on working schedule, so the GPs can each decide how to structure their routine surgeries across the week in the way that suits them best. A standard (non-duty) session usually consists of 14 patients, with allocated admin time and catch up slots in each GP’s individually tailored timetable. Home visits are done by the duty team so there are no surprises in your day. Duty cover is arranged on a rota basis planned well in advance. GP partners enjoy a Friday afternoon off the week after a Friday duty day. All of these factors help to give us a good work-life balance and ensure a fair distribution of work between the team. All of the partners meet with the district nurses and health visitors on a Friday morning to discuss patients and then move onto other clinical and business matters.
The GPs have protected time to get together over coffee in the mornings. As a team we are always keen to be involved in new initiatives and projects. Outside interests are strongly encouraged, with our GPs currently involved in undergraduate teaching, GP training, mentoring, sexual health, dermatology, minor surgery and quality improvement.
Enquiries or informal visits are welcome and locum ‘taster sessions’ are available as are ‘practice swaps’ for GP trainees. Please contact Dr Brett Finlayson (brett.finlayson@nhs.scot; 01224 492828) or Emily Skene, Practice Manager (emily.skene@nhs.scot; 01224 283926).
Applications with CV and covering letter should be sent to:
