An opportunity has arisen for a Rehabilitation Technician – Clerical (wheelchairs and seating) to join the multi-disciplinary team in the Tayside Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Technology (TORT) Services, Assistive Technology team based within Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
The Assistive Technology Service provides and supports the use of technology to people with disabilities to maximise their independence and overall quality of life. This service is underpinned by the Wheelchair & Seating Workshop.
The Rehabilitation Engineering Technician – Clerical combines engineering skills with providing technical administrative support to a very busy wheelchair and seating workshop. Working closely with technicians, clinicians and administrative staff the post holder is the focal point for the workshop team. With the work split between technical and administrative elements activity will vary on a daily basis and would suit someone with a flexible attitude with an ability to react to changing priorities.
The successful candidate will have a practical engineering background or extensive experience in the technical administrative environment either in manufacturing or engineering workshops. Excellent IT skills and an ability to prioritise their own and others workloads is essential. Contemporary practical knowledge of wheelchair or electronic assistive technology would be an advantage. Competency will be demonstrated through evidence of training, practical workplace experience or relevant qualification in a technical subject.
You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
