The Specialist Drug and Alcohol Service promotes personal development actively for its staff, providing a number of development opportunities including psychological therapies such as Motivational interviewing and CBT training and  the possibility of non medical prescribing. The post holder will be expected to provide recovery orientated, person centred care through the delivery of a range of care and treatment options for individuals who experience difficulties with alcohol and / or drugs and to ensure those individuals in the greatest need are prioritised in terms of access to co-ordinated services. The post is a full time permanent unit post within Dumfries and the post holder will work with the support of three band 6 nurses, two band 5 nurses and an associate practitioner who also cover that area, as well as the Team Leader. The post has a clinical element to it, so the applicant must be willing to undertake training (if not already trained), in venepuncture, ECG recording and immunisation.

It is essential that you are a registered Mental Health Nurse with current NMC registration. Experience of working with individuals with addictions would be beneficial. Consideration will be given to band 5 nurses willing to develop over a 12 month period to achieve band 6 status. The hours of this post currently are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm with some options for a degree of home working. This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland's PVG Scheme.
