EMERGENCY MEDICINE & ORTHOPAEDIC TRAUMA CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT FELLOW

Since beginning our journey, the Emergency Department and Orthopaedic teams of Scotland’s showpiece hospital have been evolving and developing an enviable research, innovation, teaching, quality improvement and trauma portfolio. Now is the time to join our team as we embark on our next adventure, opening our doors as the Major Trauma Centre for the West of Scotland in August 2021.
We have 1 Emergency Medicine and Orthopaedic Trauma Clinical Development Fellow posts available to start in August 2021. These posts will be based on a 12-month contract with 6 months of Emergency Medicine and 6 months of Trauma & Orthopaedics with each specialty providing experience in the management of musculoskeletal trauma in addition to the fundamentals of emergency medicine and orthopaedics.
These posts are not only aimed at improving your clinical skills but also your research, teaching, quality improvement and innovation skills. The Emergency Medicine component of the post has an attractive 70% clinical and 30% non-clinical split with your non-clinical time spent focussed on developing the MSK service through teaching, quality improvement and service design whilst at the same time making your CV the envy of your peers.
You will become part of the team in Scotland’s largest and newest MTC, driven to excel in Emergency and Orthopaedic Trauma Care. Will we train you, develop your clinical skills and knowledge and help you achieve your future career goals wherever they may lie. You will leave the QEUH with a passion for trauma medicine, EM, orthopaedics, a robust CV, a smile on your face and a skip in your step! Previous Clinical Development Fellows in both EM and orthopaedics have been top competitors in interviews, with a proven track record of securing highly sought-after national training posts.

You do not need any prior experience in Emergency Medicine or Orthopaedics, we will aim to provide you with the core teaching and supervision similar to that of an FY2 / CT1 grade. We would also be delighted to receive applications for more experienced doctors looking to take their emergency medicine and trauma and orthopaedic skills to a more advanced level.

These posts have not been approved for Training purposes by NES. To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and a licence. All candidates must be available to commence work on 4th August 2021.
