12 months secondment opportunity as a Band 5 violence reduction advisor post within the violence reduction service (mental health) to provide mandatory training, direct clinical support, post incident reviews and advice to staff in safe management of incidents promoting the organizational strategy in the reduction of patient restraints.  The VR team facilitates clinical support across GG&C MH in the safe management of patients in relation to the management of violence and aggression. The post holder will provide advice and support within all MH areas and contributes to the direct support of the clinical care of patients reducing restraints by identifying pre-incident behaviour and the implementation of violence reduction strategies.  The post holder will assist on referrals from clinical areas to support and educate staff on the care of violent and aggressive patients and to provide primary, secondary and tertiary clinical interventions. The team support staff with care planning, positive behaviour/strength based approach plans, early recognition de-escalation plans and risk assessment/risk management.   NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde violence reduction service has the responsibility for both mandatory violence reduction training and a clinical role in the reduction of violence and aggression utilising primary prevention strategies to minimise risks and promote a collaborative clinical approach to Violence Reduction. It is desirable that you educated to degree level or have equivalent experience and is desirable you are a registered mental health nurse (RMN) with active NMC registration. Essential you have experience of working within the violence reduction service GG&C mental health and have attained an ‘A’ grade GSA tutor status with 2 years tutor experience.  It is essential and you should have the ability to work independently as well as within the team. As an Advisor you will undertake all aspects of the role and provide supervision and support to other members of the sessional team on training and you will assist on the provision specialist assessments to clinical areas whilst working as a fully integrated member of the team using own initiative and at times without direct supervision. You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and team working skills as the post involves direct clinical support and service development.
