We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Service Manager to join our team.  This role will initially focus on Child Disability Payment however the scope of the post may be expanded at a later date.  Reporting to the Head of Health & Social Care Operations, the Service Manager will fulfil a leadership and managerial role for all Senior Practitioners and Practitioners, ensuring that comprehensive relevant expert advice is provided to support decision making. You will lead frontline practitioners and facilitate  a  meaningful and productive partnership working with other professions and agencies.

We are looking for candidates who have

  • Experience of managing staff in a Health and Social Care setting, alongside a relevant qualification and registration with either NMC/HCPC/SSSC
  • Extensive experience and evidence of active and ongoing Continuous Professional Development
  • Proven management experience
  • Specialist knowledge of rights, value-based practice and legislation frameworks
  • Demonstrable enhanced communication and interpersonal skills , such as influencing, negotiating and leadership skills
  • Evidence of managing a team, budgets and resources
  • Ability to role model, influence and share advanced/ specialist knowledge with colleagues
  • A personal commitment to our core ethos of treating all people with fairness, dignity and respect, the provision of social security as a human right and our duty to maximise benefit take-up.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Supporting the Head of Operations and the Chief Officer, within Health & Social Care Operations to develop and lead the establishment of Social Security Scotland’s Practitioner services across the Disability Benefits being delivered in Glasgow and Dundee locations.
  • Create a team culture that values, inspires and empowers people to play an active role in the development and delivery of an excellent service.
  • Working with the Head of Health and Social Care Operations Operation  to put in place appropriate performance measures to ensure the service is delivering for Social Security Scotland’s clients.  They will be responsible for ensuring that the Practitioner service delivery is underpinned with a strong commitment to client satisfaction and in line with Social Security Scotland’s values.
  • Working with the wider team to shape the design of practitioner and decision making guidance with significant input to the Learning & Development design.
  • Reporting to the Head of Operations (Health & Social Care Operations) and working closely with other appropriate staff and other managers within Social Security Scotland to ensure that effective staff and professional governance structures are in place. The post holder will deliver governance by implementing effective operational financial controls.
  • Deputising for the Head of Health & Social Care Operations from time to time.

Essential criteria and how to apply
