An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Paediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Paediatric Infectious Diseases/ Immunology Multiprofessional Team on a fixed term/ secondment basis for a period of 12 months. Applications are invited from experienced nurses with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience.


You will work with the current CNS to provide expert person centred nursing care to children and young people living with a primary immune deficiency (PID) requiring antibody replacement therapy and more complex PID conditions following Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant. The service also cares for children and young people with a Blood Borne Virus Infection (BBV) (HIV, Hepatitis B virus and Hepatitis C virus).


You will work the current CNS managing the nurse led BBV screening service and the nurse /pharmacist led Hepatitis C virus treatment pathway. In 2021 treatment for Hepatitis C virus became available for children from age 3 years and a programme of treating eligible children is underway. The service provides care to children and young people living with HIV from across the west of Scotland


The antibody replacement home therapy programme is well established with 90% of children and young people administering their infusions at home. This is complex treatment plan and you will work with the current CNS in the management of this service to ensure families have the support and monitoring required. This includes working across Health Board Boundaries.


This is very interesting clinical specialty and this post will give the successful candidate the opportunity to experience this diverse field over a period of 12 months. Training will be provided.

The shift pattern is; Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm​​​​​​​
