Job Advert
This is a full time post based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), Glasgow with additional clinical commitments at the New Victoria Hospital (NVH). The post is initially for 12 months but may be extended subject to negotiation. It is intended that applicants will be those who hold MRCP or equivalent, but may not be eligible to apply for recruitment to national GMC-approved Dermatology Specialty Training programmes. As such, it is intended the successful candidate will work towards achieving the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) and a subsequent career path as a Consultant Dermatologist. The South Glasgow Dermatology Department has a recent proven track record of success for such a route of training through utilising the training experience of Consultant staff in tandem with the educational resources in place for existing Dermatology Specialty Trainees. Prospective candidates are reminded that this is a Service level post and not a Deanery-approved post. There currently is no out-of-hours on-call component, so the post does not attract a banding supplement. However, there would be frequent exposure to on-call clinical cases during daytime working hours, thereby creating excellent experience to be gained in this area.
The successful candidate would have access to a wide range of educational opportunities through the subspecialty interests of Consultants within the Dermatology Directorate. Current subspecialty interest clinics include the following; cutaneous surgery (including Mohs surgery), skin cancer, post-transplant Dermatology, urticaria, photodermatology, contact dermatitis, bullous disorders, severe psoriasis, severe eczema, teaching, genodermatoses, paediatric dermatology, connective tissue disorders, vulval dermatoses, lymphoma and hair disorders. There will be scope for a successful applicant to develop a sub specialty interest.
