Job Advert

A vacancy has arisen within Urology Diagnostic Treatment Centre (DTC) for a 1st level trained nurse.

You will work within the Urology Centres across both sites, at the Victoria Hospital and the Queen Margaret Hospital.  The DTC undertake outpatient and day case work, providing a vast range of clinics and urological tests and treatments.
These include One Stop Clinics, flexible cystoscopies, TRUS biopsies, overactive bladder, BPH, bladder instillations working alongside clinicians and many nurses-led clinics.
There have been advancements within Urology in regards to operations, procedures, investigations and treatments with new ways of working thus reducing patient stay in hospital and revolutionising new day case surgeries, moving some from theatre into the out patient setting.

Supportive training and guidance will be provided to learn new clinical skills and also to enhance clinical skills already learnt.

You should be enthusiastic, caring and compassionate, dynamic and self motivated with a real interest in urology / surgical nursing, delivering and providing patient focused care.

We are looking for a team player with excellent communication skills necessary to perform this role safely and efficiently. To have a commitment towards patient safety and delivering the best quality patient care, enhancing the patient’s experience whilst in hospital.

Experience within an acute surgical setting or other relevant experience is desirable and the ability and confidence to rise to the challenge of working within a fast paced out-patient setting is essential. Working within the Urology Assessment Unit within Ward 54 is an integral part of DTC – dealing with emergency admissions direct from GP who require investigation.

Our emphasis is on teamwork and flexibility of staff, with the patient at the heart of what we do.

Organisational skills and managing workload is paramount to ensure that the interests of patients are met.
The ability to communicate at all levels with good interpersonal skills, effective listening, excellent communication and documentation skills are needed to ensure efficient sharing of information.

Time management is important to ensure the smooth running of all clinics.

A commitment to own professional development must be demonstrated; the opportunity to increase learning and knowledge within DTC is widely available.

You will be joining a well motivated and dynamic multi-disciplinary team who strive to deliver the highest level of care possible.
