Come and join our vibrant Emergency Medicine team at University Hospital Crosshouse in NHS Ayrshire and Arran. Ayrshire is a wonderful location to live and work with beautiful islands and beaches yet still an easy distance to Glasgow City and surrounding areas. Travel time to Glasgow is only 30 mins from University Hospital Crosshouse. We have world class outdoor pursuits on our doorstep.
You will contribute to the middle grade tier in a department seeing around 200 new patients per day of which 20-25% are paediatric attendances. The consultants provide extended hours cover (midnight at weekends) and the ST4-6 trainees provide full 24 hour cover. There is regularly scheduled supported professional activity time to pursue quality improvement projects as well as continued professional development.
University Hospital Crosshouse ED is a busy DGH, seeing 75,000 patients per year, with over 25% of these being paediatric patients. We have a dedicated paediatric area and a Minor Injuries service. From August 2021 Crosshouse will be Ayrshire’s Trauma Unit as part of the Scottish Trauma Network
University Hospital Crosshouse was awarded top training department in the UK for Emergency Medicine in 2019 and we have a strong emphasis on supporting training and development.
