LOCUM CONSULTANT FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST

Applications are welcome for the above Fixed Term (40 hours per week) post based in The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
The core service work is forensic autopsies currently carried out at the City Mortuary of Edinburgh, at the request of East SFIU (COPFS). Reports on autopsies, histology, toxicological and other ancillary investigations have to be prepared, with provisional and final reports issued to COPFS within a contractually agreed timescale. There are also occasional meetings with Procurators Fiscal and next-of-kin, which have to be attended as well as crime scenes on request by the Homicide Unit, SFIU. Each consultant has to provide cover for leave of colleagues. On-call duties comprise attendance at scenes of death, and possibly urgent post mortems (including out-of-hours). Applicants are required to be on, or to be eligible for inclusion on, the GMC Specialist Register as either Histopathology (Forensic) or Forensic Pathology.
