CLINICAL SPECIALIST OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Band 7

PERMANENT POST, FULL TIME

We are looking for an experienced, innovative and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with significant skills and accredited expertise in the area of Autism, to work within our integrated Community Mental Health service from a base at the Alloway Centre.

As the most senior Occupational Therapist in the Tayside Adult Autism Consultancy Team (TAACT), the post holder will carry out assessments and provide specialist interventions to individuals referred to the team. These will be a mixture of primary care based referrals and referrals of a complex nature. Much of your assessments and recommendations will incorporate your enhanced Sensory Integration (SI) knowledge and skills, along with your enhanced OT skills in the areas of mental and physical health. In addition, you will also be responsible for mentoring and guiding less experienced Occupational Therapists as part of our growing network of SI expertise within TAACT and our wider Dundee Community Mental Health and Learning Disability services.

TAACT comprises a range of specialist professionals with a high level of expertise, experience and commitment within the field of Autism including Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy, Nursing and support staff. Multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working is an essential component of the post, and you will be encouraged to develop pathways of post diagnostic support in collaboration with local voluntary sector partners and care provider agencies.

On occasion you may be asked to work out with normal office hours, and therefore a degree of flexible working may be required. There may also be a potential for 7 day working arrangements to be introduced as the TAACT service, along with other core elements of the local Mental Health and Learning Disability Services progresses through a number of Transformation Change Programme workstreams.

Currently registered with the HCPC and with a diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy, our commitment to individual supervision and continuing professional development will support you in this clinical specialist role.
