A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced clinical pharmacist to participate in the provision of high quality pharmaceutical services within Stroke Services from University Hospital Crosshouse.

The successful candidate shall be responsible for delivering a highly specialised clinical pharmacy service to patients admitted to the 12 bedded Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) on the UHC site.  The HASU receives patients from across Ayrshire & Arran and provides early management of acute stroke to ensure these patients have outcomes optimised and access to best possible care.  The role of the clinical pharmacist within this unit shall involve optimising medication use, actively participating in consultant led ward rounds and prescribing by utilising evidence-informed decision making, encouraging professional collaboration, managing complexity to ensure optimal patient outcomes, reducing unwarranted variation and minimising cost.  Whilst the priority for this role shall be to provide a clinical pharmacy service to the HASU, this role shall also involve support to inpatients within the associated post stroke area of the ward.  In addition the successful candidate shall be responsible for scoping and developing opportunities for extended pharmacist prescribing within the outpatient setting.  Involvement in research within the speciality of stroke is actively encouraged together with a commitment to supporting pharmacists undertaking their independent prescribing qualification and developing staff across the MDT.

The ideal candidate shall possess excellent communication skills, be an independent prescriber with experience of prescribing within the specialty of stroke, be able to demonstrate a highly specialised level of clinical pharmacy knowledge and skills and have experience in service development.  It essential that the post-holder has the ability to work well as part of a team in addition to be able to work autonomously.

You will participate in weekend, public holiday, on call rotas and extended hours as required.  In accordance with AFC terms and conditions you may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day.
