Operational management responsibility for the professional and strategic leadership of Occupational Therapy across Acute Service

This comprises:-

    1. responsibility for staff management, recruitment, appraisal, CPD and discipline, service development and policy, service delivery including liaison with external agencies, dealing with complaints, management of the delegated  budget and physical resources for the Occupational Therapy Service
    2. responsibility for alignment with national and local strategy, clinical leadership in the management of Occupational Therapy, with responsibility for policy and service development and to lead the team within Acute Services and responsibility for all elements of governance.
    3. provide an expert level clinical service to patients with a specific range of disorders referred from a clinical department, comprising specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment.  
  1. Work collaboratively with the Chief AHP and other AHP leads/Chiefs to create a culture of multi-professional and multi agency working that supports Divisional, NHS Lothian and AHP Strategy.
  2. Take delegated lead responsibility in element(s) of corporate governance for Therapy Services across the division as directed by the Chief AHP.        
  3. To coordinate/undertake research and audit.
  4. To contribute to achievement of goals of the Directorate and Division and develop and implement service developments in line with Allied Health Professions (AHP) strategy.

To deputise for the Chief AHP as required.
