Public Health Scotland is a new organisation between the Scottish Government and Local Government, working in partnership, to provide leadership to improve and protect the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland.
Public Health Scotland launched 1st April 2020 with the formal status of a National Special Health Board employing around 1100 people, and with an annual budget of around £60 million, Public Health Scotland will provide authoritative information and services to support people and communities across Scotland. It will lead the national response to unforeseen health emergencies and will contribute to national and local government policy through its provision of robust data and intelligence.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Systems Support Developer to help deliver digital services for Public Health Scotland. You will work across a range of digital projects, contributing to their technical design, development and implementation, including the further development of our PHS website (https://publichealthscotland.scot) and our intranet. You will also contribute to the Business As Usual (BAU) management of digital services and provide a first line technical support service for digital software products.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have demonstrable experience and skills in:
Experience of supporting the development, testing and maintenance of user-focused digital software applications – particularly websites, intranets and business support tools
Knowledge and skills in software design development, programming, testing, and software environments including C#, .NET, Umbraco CMS, IIS and Azure
Knowledge of usability and digital accessibility principles and standards.
You will have the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, service teams and stakeholders, and excellent personal organisation and planning skills.
During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service
