Lead Bed Manager – Band 7 37.5 Hrs


We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated registered nurse to take up the post of Lead Bed Manager within the North Sector with a base at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.


Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI)  and Stobhill ACH form part of the North Sector within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde with established links to the University of Glasgow

and Glasgow Caledonia University.  The sector provides the Accident and Emergency service for the North and Eastern districts of Glasgow and has inpatients beds in

general medicine, medicine  for the elderly, general surgery, orthopaedics, plastic surgery and obstetrics and gynaecology.  There are also beds in intensive care, high

dependency, and coronary care. Following the closure of Stobhill hospital as an acute site at the end of March 2011 all medical beds, with the exception of some long-stay

care of the elderly beds, are on the GRI site.

 

As a Registered Nurse, working with the specialty clinical teams the Lead Bed Manager will work within the nursing and multi-professional specialty clinical teams to ensure a high standard of care of patient care and provide additional clinical input into safe patient flow and clinical placement.


The Lead Bed Manager carries the continuing responsibility for the bed management team in the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of clinical care to include the setting of professional and bed management service standards. 


In addition the post holder will lead the Bed Management team and work closely with the, Clinical Service Manager (CSM), Site Flow Manager (SFM) and clinical teams to oversee safe patient flow and efficient management of bed capacity within the North Sector.  The post holder will understand all points of access into the sector, using expert clinical knowledge in conjunction with sound clinical judgement proactively balance the emergency and urgent/non-urgent access demands within/into available North Sector beds plus be able to recognise and address the competing interests.

The shift pattern is; Rotational -  7.5 hour and 11.5 hour shifts  as per service needs
