Given the mental health and dementia care focus of the post, applicants should have a sound working knowledge of the Mental Health and Dementia care services, responsibilities and legislation in Scotland, as well as the current evidence base and national strategic direction of both services. The post holder must have the ability to work with a range of NHS Board colleagues, Police Scotland and other partner agencies.
The post holder will lead a small team of staff responsible for supporting frontline clinical staff in satisfying the organisations responsibilities including Mental health strategy implementation, developing dementia care as well as working with agencies to support individuals who use services with high intensity, to deliver safe, effective and person centred care.
The role will require coordination of the team and wider mental health and dementia care activity across the Board, providing assurance of processes and supporting the board in meeting the governance responsibilities in relation to mental health and dementia care. The post holder will develop a team work plan in line with strategic goals and deliver these with and through staff and public engagement approaches.
The role will require the preparation of Board level reports and development plans to meet organisational responsibilities in relation to the care of Scottish Ambulance Service patients.
The role has responsibilities to develop and support clinical teams across Scotland to strive to improve care in relation to mental health and dementia care, coordinating education, support, advice, developing and coordination of care.
To excel in this role, the post holders will work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and will be flexible, open-minded, self-motivated, organised and able to work with a minimum of supervision to achieve goals. This will include managing conflicting priorities and working to deadlines.
In order to undertake the role, the Mental Health and Dementia Care lead may require to have enhanced security status clearance.
