As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
This post is within Patient Services division which provides a comprehensive range of specialist clinical services in strategically located transfusion centres in the major cities in Scotland. Services include Immunohaematology reference work, Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics in support of donors and transplantation, Clinical Immunology, Clinical Apheresis and Better Blood Transfusion. The Glasgow HUB provides blood products for hospitals in the West of Scotland.
This post, based at Gartnavel General Hospital in Glasgow, provides a challenging role for a motivated individual to be able to work in a busy and changing environment. The post requires team working and excellent interpersonal skills and you will be required to work flexibly to meet the SNBTS corporate objectives. SNBTS patient services provide support to clinical and hospital services 24 hours, 7 days a week. Staff working in identified areas / departments, will participate in departmental shifts to support these services. The work pattern will involve 12 hours shifts over 7 days. These are both nightshifts and dayshifts.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check.
Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
