Visible, active clinical engagement is central to the success of our work and will support the delivery of clinically effective care to patients. Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s clinical engagement strategy, Improving Healthcare Together, aims to ensure that we have clinical influence and engagement across all of our activities.

Healthcare Improvement Scotland, through the Quality Assurance Directorate, has a role in providing clinical expertise to the inspections of services for children and young people in partnership with the Care Inspectorate, Education Scotland and Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland. In addition, we are planning to undertake quality assurance activity focused on the outcomes for children receiving healthcare in the community. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic individual with senior expertise in NHS services for children and young people.

Candidates must:

- hold a relevant professional clinical qualification and be educated to Masters level or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.

- be working at a senior clinical level in NHS services that includes services for children and families.

 - have a sound knowledge regarding legislation, guidance and practice for working with vulnerable children and young people.

- have the ability to demonstrate sound knowledge of national policy and current up-to-date practice in their specialist area within children’s services.

Any individual wishing to pursue this opportunity as a secondment must first seek the support of their line manager.
