Clinical Embryologist, Band 7.

37.5 hours per week.


Ninewells Hospital is a large NHS teaching hospital located in Dundee. The Assisted Conception Unit was established over 35 years ago, has a state of the art facility and is run by a very experienced multidisciplinary team.

We plan approx 450 fresh cycles of IVF / ICSI per year, mostly funded by the NHS, and a further 250 Frozen embryo transfers. We also run a fertility preservation service.

The regional diagnostic andrology service is run through the Assisted Conception Unit.

 We are looking for a Clinical Embryologist to join our dedicated and successful team. In addition to the usual assisted conception processes, each band 7 Embryologist has a designated area of responsibility where they are each expected to take a leadership role. The area for this post will be decided once the skillset and experience of the successful candidate are known.

You must have a BSc Hons (2:1) or above in a biological or biomedical science, and preferably a higher degree.

You must have completed an accredited training programme, such as the ACE certificate, or the Scientist Training Programme, STP.

You must be state registered with HCPC.  If you are currently submitting your portfolio, we could consider an appointment at band 6 until state registration has been achieved.

  You must be highly dexterous. You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to work within a small team.

A presentation will be required an interview; details of the topic will be sent to those candidates shortlisted for interview.


The post is full time; 37.5 hours per week, and will include rotational weekend working and participation in an on-call rota.
