NHS Grampian is seeking to appoint an innovative and forward-thinking Specialty Doctor in Public Health to join our Team. This is a NHS Fixed Term post for 1 year.
The post is based in the beautiful North East of Scotland, however we support a blended approach of home and office working which we expect to continue beyond the pandemic. You will be able to work Full or Part Time.
There is much to attract individuals and families to the area, with outstanding scenery including beaches, mountains and Royal Deeside. The high quality educational facilities and exciting culture, sport and entertainment available ensure that once here, the North East of Scotland is a home forever.
The integrated team comprises Consultants, Nurse Specialists, Public Health Practitioners, Health Analysts, Public Health Researchers, Managers and Academics, with established multi-agency working arrangements in place with partners including Local Authorities, Environmental Health, Educational Authorities, Health and Social Care and more.
The current Public Health Emergency has been met with a swift and sustained response from our entire team, strengthening already well-formed partnerships, but our aspirations do not end with the pandemic. We have set out a challenging and ambitious strategy to improve population health and tackle health inequalities as the core of NHS Grampian’s Clinical Strategy.
When you start, we will discuss the design of your job plan to reflect your aspirations. Our concept of Health Protection is holistic, it is about improving population health including Infectious and communicable Diseases, hazards, sustainability and other influences. We also hope for candidates who can use data, research and intelligence to understand complex circumstances, design solutions and drive activity.
Candidates must be included on the GMC Register having had a minimum of 4 years of Postgraduate Medical Training (or its equivalent gained on a part time or flexible basis), 2 of which have been in Public Health Training Programme or as a Fixed Term Specialty Trainee or the equivalent experience and competencies.
