NHS Golden Jubilee and NHS Education for Scotland have formed NHS Scotland Academy, a national joint venture that will support the implementation of NHS Scotland’s Recovery Plan.

NHS Scotland Academy will provide a critical role in ensuring there is a skilled and sustainable workforce for health and care services in Scotland, working collaboratively with partners, focusing on a once for Scotland ethos. It will deliver accelerated training to meet the clinical and care needs of citizens across Scotland at a crucial time of recovery from the pandemic enabling people to live healthier lives.

The national venture will bring added value to NHS Scotland by capitalising on the existing strengths of both parent Boards to focus on areas of workforce pressures requiring accelerated solutions to meet the needs of NHS Scotland’s current and future workforce. Hosting NHS Scotland Academy within NHS Golden Jubilee brings the advantages of direct access to clinical facilities and resources within the national hospital, as well as conference, hotel and simulation education facilities which will allow hybrid delivery models, offering practical face-to-face or at-distance learning.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the new NHS Scotland Academy as Associate Director to support sustainable transformation of health and social care in Scotland, harnessing innovation in workforce development.  The Associate Director is a pivotal senior leadership role, providing professional expertise on the development, design and delivery of NHS Scotland Academy, ensuring that the range of programmes created are underpinned by high quality, credible and internationally respected practice.

You will lead the development of positive relationships between NHS Scotland Academy and a wide range of partners across NHS Scotland and beyond. You will be responsible for fostering collaboration nationally and internationally.  You will act as a change agent and be expected to display the highest professional standards, with experience of collaborating with senior leaders in organisations. You will be a values-based leader who has clearly demonstrated leadership of change leading to positive improvements and impact in your current role.

Applications are invited from individuals who possess the credibility and leadership experience to support this national leadership role.

This role will report to the Director of NHS Scotland Academy and will be expected to work closely with the senior leadership team within NHS Scotland Academy, as well as leadership teams in NHS Golden Jubilee and NES.
