Associate Practitioner (Immunology) – Band 4

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual interested in pursuing a career in laboratory Science to gain practical skill and experience of a clinical laboratory setting. The successful candidate will receive training in the Immunology specialist department of Blood Sciences. Applicants will hold a HND or HNC in Healthcare Science or undergraduate degree in a related subject.
Following Immunology lab training the successful applicant will receive support from Immunology staff and the Training team towards registration as a Biomedical Scientist. NHS Tayside Immunology is based with a wider Diagnostics Laboratory department at the heart of a large teaching hospital which provides a full range of clinical and diagnostic services to NHS Tayside and North-East Fife. In addition we serve as the Immunology referral centre for NHS Fife & NHS Borders and is a specialist testing centre for Immunology centres across Scotland. The Department of Blood Science is; UKAS accredited to ISO 15189 and holds IBMS Training status.
We are looking for staff that can demonstrate team spirit, initiative, flexibility and the enthusiasm to train further. In order to apply you must have a HND or HNC in Healthcare Science or undergraduate degree in a relevant Biological Science. Experience of working in a clinical laboratory environment is highly desirable but specialist knowledge or experience in Immunology is not required.
The Immunology Service operates from 8:30-16:30 although on occasion you may be asked to work outside these times and paid overtime.
