4 posts - 1 Permanent and 3 fixed term for 2 years (with potential for permanent roles)

Secondments will also be considered

The Scottish Ambulance Service is a national health board within NHS Scotland and one of three Scottish emergency services.  We offer a unique position in NHS Scotland operating across Health and Social Care, including Public Health, and as a mobile service meeting the scheduled and unscheduled care needs of the population of Scotland in every community 24 hours, 7 days a week. We attend with road resources, airplanes and helicopters and have the specialist resources of our operations response team and specialist transport and retrieval teams ready to assist. During the COVID pandemic we have also recruited and deployed our Mobile Testing Units across all of Scotland’s regions.  We also have a dedicated team of volunteers, support staff and operations centre staff able to assist our frontline crews in the delivery of high quality care to our patients and the public.

In response to the continuing demands and the recovery and reform of the health system, the Scottish Ambulance Service has recently set up a Programme Management Office (PMO) to support the Service in meeting the aims of our developing 2030 strategy and remobilisation plans. We are currently recruiting experienced and enthusiastic Project Managers to join the PMO and provide project management expertise to support the delivery of key Service projects.  The range of projects will cut across all areas of the service and candidates will be matched to projects which suit their skillset but will be expected to work across a range of projects and services. Projects on the horizon over the next 12 months will involve our air ambulance service reprocurement, a review of how we manage demand and capacity, a range of digital developments and supporting the redesign of urgent care, all with the focus on our remobilisation and renew from COVID-19.

Previous experience in project management is essential. Candidates must be able to evidence a working knowledge of project management tools and techniques. Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) as well as excellent interpersonal skills are essential.  The candidate should be well organised, self-motivated and be prepared to work autonomously to deliver the range of projects assigned to them.

The post location is under review as the Service emerges from Covid restrictions but likely to include an agile approach of home based and office working.  Applications are welcome from all areas of Scotland.

In any case, this role requires travel throughout Scotland to meet the needs of the Service.  As a result, there will be occasions where the post-holder will have to be flexible in terms of their start time and finish time during their 37.5hr working week. Applicants must have a current driving licence.
