Dementia Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist (Ref: 57030)

(Can be offered as a Development Opportunity)

Substantive - Full Time – 37.5 hours per week

Band 7 - Salary Range £40,872 - £47,846 per annum

Band 6 - Salary Range £33,072 - £40,736 per annum (whilst on development)

Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,895 per annum

 A Relocation Assistance of up to £8000 available


Following a review of the dementia nursing requirements in Shetland we have created a new opportunity for a Dementia Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the team. The post holder will play a key role in the assessment and diagnosis of people with dementia, working as part of the multi-disciplinary team. The Dementia Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist as a senior practitioner, will provide evidence based advice and education to support people with dementia, their carers and family. They will also act as an expert to support other professionals who work with people with dementia to facilitate opportunities to access the right care and maximise their quality of life.


As a senior practitioner, the Dementia Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist will deliver the Memory Assessment Service. In collaboration with the Dementia Nurse Consultant and Dementia/Old Age Psychiatrist in Grampian, the Dementia Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist support the delivery of the Dementia Diagnostic pathway. The post holder will also contribute to the Post Diagnostic Support service. 


This post is open to existing Dementia Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialists and is also available as a development opportunity for Dementia Clinical Nurse Specialists looking to develop advanced clinical skills.
