Job Advert
Secondment until March 2022
The Scottish Ambulance Service have been awarded funding to continue mental health provision with the organisation. As part of this continued work we are looking for a Paramedic to work on mental health response units in the Glasgow area in Scotland.
This role will be central to continuing the mental health car provision already trialled with Greater Glasgow and Clyde alongside mental health nurses.
The response unit is tasked to people that have contacted the organisation in mental health distress; the car is staffed by a Paramedic and a mental health professional. This MH provision is designed to give the best possible care to people in mental health distress, signposting and utilising available pathways in each area to divert from A and E and provide the most appropriate care for each individual.
During the secondment the car will be continually evaluated; which you will be involved in and different models of response utilised. There will also be a requirement for you to work within a role that will assist with the dispatch of the vehicle. A variety of shift patterns and flexibility will be required throughout the trial period as different models are trialled.
As part of the role, additional mental health education will be provided and some of this you will be supported to cascade to other staff members as part of the wider MH provision in SAS.
This is a very exciting opportunity, but one that will require a degree of flexibility, team work with a high level of clinical knowledge to work another healthcare professional delivering care to vulnerable individuals.
